something stands between you

Fortune favors the bold. Have you ever heard that? It means that if you want to be successful, you have to be bold and go after that success like you mean it. You have to be willing to move the big obstacles and keep moving forward. Life will throw all sorts of roadblocks in your path. That’s just the way of things.

You’ll be rocking along, making progress toward your goal when, suddenly, boom. Roadblock. Maybe you get a new boss or your company is sold and there’s a reorganization. Maybe your previous boss was very supportive of your executive journey, while this new boss isn’t. Maybe it’s something else. Whatever it is, whatever challenges show up along the way to success, you have to be prepared for them and be willing to face the challenges head-on.

You can’t allow obstacles to hold you back. Coaching at times can be a lot like my personal trainer. Were I to work out alone, I can guarantee you I’d give up long before I ever do when I’m working out with my trainer. There’s something about having someone alongside you in the journey to help keep you on the path. And, it’s valuable to have someone who can assist you in evaluating whether you’ve hit a dip or it’s time to give up on this particular strategy of achieving your goals….and then help you to design another strategy so you can get back on track. Whatever the challenge, your goal is to move it, break it up, or find a way around it.

You can’t allow obstacles to stop you. Not if you believe in your dreams and goals. Persevere. Never give up. Never be denied. Your success is possible, and it is worth the hard work you put into it. Consider each obstacle as an opportunity to learn, to grow, to develop even more trust in yourself. As I say to myself during every workout, “We can do hard things!”
