You may have heard about my Break A Record With Susan (BARWS) event in June. Well, it turns out we really did break that record, and I’m now an official, real, live, Guinness World Records® record holder!
I can’t even begin to describe the feeling of holding a Guinness World Records title. I mean, it’s kind of ridiculous and surreal and sometimes I kind of can’t believe that I actually did this thing. And of course, I didn’t do it by myself. It would’ve been much harder if I’d had to do it without the help of my friends (and almost certainly boring to hear me talk for 36 hours straight!)
What I’m most proud of, though, is that in this event, we presented 36 hours and 23 seconds of record-breaking business and marketing content. I think it’s amazing that serious, A-list experts in the business and marketing world, many of whom are paid thousands upon thousands of dollars for their advice and speaking, were willing to deliver so much free, high-quality content. That, in and of itself, is the accomplishment I’m most proud of. You don’t see that every day.
As I was planning the event and the list of bestselling authors, speakers, and entrepreneurs who were appearing started to come together, people started asking me, “How much are you charging for people to attend this event?” Nobody could believe that it was free. But the best part of doing this as a Guinness World Records attempt is that you can’t charge people to watch you making your attempt.
A reporter who came to the in-person event in Indianapolis and looked over the schedule of presentations said to me, “This is like a masters program in business!” It really was. It was amazing. And the best part about all of this is that it will always be available, in its entirety, all 36 hours, for free, at BreakARecordWithSusan.com . That won’t change and I’ll never charge for it.
